Virginia:  Sheriff to Study Counter-Terrorism from Israelis

Bedford Co., VA - The Bedford County Sheriff and others from our area
are heading overseas to learn more about counter-terrorism.  It was
Sheriff Mike Brown’s idea to go to Israel and take along 40 other public
safety and law enforcement personnel.

They’re leaving this weekend.  They’ll train with the Israeli National
police and intelligence -- plus work with their bomb squad undercover
units to learn more about suicide bombers.

Sheriff Mike Brown, Bedford Co. -  “That is one big concern in law
enforcement here in the United States on the federal, state, and local
level is the suicide terrorist bomber goes in with a weapon knowing he’s
not leaving alive.  So I think it could be a tremendous wake up call for
every person that goes.”

The group will be in Israel for 10 days.  Police drug busts and the
National Sheriff’s Association funded the trip.
